About Dr. Spinelli
Dr. Spinelli obtained his undergraduate and medical degrees from The Johns Hopkins University and New York University School of Medicine, respectively. He was formally trained in ophthalmology at The Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, general surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian and plastic surgery at New York University. Additionally, he has subspecialty training and expertise in craniofacial, aesthetic and microsurgery.
Dr. Spinelli has gained national and international recognition in the areas of craniofacial, oculoplastic and aesthetic surgery and he continues to lecture, teach and write extensively in these areas. He performs all cosmetic surgical procedures including facial plastic, body contouring, liposuction and breast surgery utilizing modern and minimally invasive techniques such as endoscopic browlifting, tumescent and ultrasonic liposuction and chemical and laser resurfacing, in addition to his reconstructive procedures. Dr. Spinelli also recommends and provides treatment for preventative skin care to be used daily and conveniently at home. Non-surgical therapies can include injectables, i.e. botulinum toxin type A, fat injections and fillers which can complement or supplant some surgical procedures.
Currently, Dr. Spinelli holds faculty appointments at Weill Cornell Medicine as Clinical Professor of Surgery and Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery and has served on the faculty of Yale University as the Director of Craniofacial Surgery. He is board certified in both ophthalmology and plastic surgery with membership in numerous professional societies. Dr. Spinelli is currently on staff at The New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medicine, Lenox Hill Hospital and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai in New York City. Additionally, he is a consultant to the department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery also in New York City as well as a consulting member of the staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital in the State of Connecticut. In February 2010 Dr. Spinelli was named Editor-in-Chief of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal, the official journal of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. He concluded his tenure as Editor-in-Chief in October 2016 to pursue other academic interests however has the distinction of remaining on as Editor-in-Chief Emeritus of the journal.
Dr. Spinelli is among “The Best Doctors in America”, in the Northeast region and has been named among New York Magazine’s Best Doctors in New York consecutively since 2001. Vogue magazine listed him as a leading “image maker” in the United States and he was listed among “Americas Top Surgeons” by Consumers’ Research Council of America. In addition to his private practice and teaching responsibilities Dr. Spinelli continues to participate in charitable organizations providing medical care.
